The Seventy4 Evening Programme is specifically tailored to people who are working or, for whatever reason, cannot attend an addictions therapy programme during the day.

There is very little treatment available upon this basis, so the evening programme has been established to accommodate this gap in service provision in London. The programme offers a client not only the flexibility in terms of time commitment, but also ensures regular, firm-boundaried support within the part-time structure.

The Seventy4 Evening Programme runs over two evenings per week, on a Monday and Thursday, from 6.30pm - 9.00pm. In addition, clients will receive an individual therapy session each week on a Tuesday evening.

The Programme

Clients on the Seventy4 Evening Programme will attend for approximately twelve weeks, which includes two groups and one individual counselling session on a separate evening.

The structured group work aspect of the programme will incorporate the following areas:

  • Abstinence
  • A relapse intervention plan
  • Reality therapy
  • Effects on all areas of life
  • Individual experiences
  • Physical health
  • Denial
  • Anger
  • Shame
  • Group therapy
Individual counselling sessions will take place with a qualified and experienced counsellor/psychotherapist and will allow the client to explore life issues on a personal basis in a secure and confidential setting.

The programme is suitable for people suffering from any addictive disorder, including but not limited to drugs, alcohol, gambling and sex. Seventy4 does have a specialist Eating Disorder Service, but if clients are unable to attend this during the day, it may be possible to access the Seventy4 Evening Programme instead.

What is Expected of the Client?

In order to attend the Seventy4 Evening Programme, clients must be a minimum of 24 hours free from drugs and or/alcohol and have the desire to remain abstinent from all mood-altering substances and limiting behaviour.

There will need to be a degree of desire and willingness to make the changes required to maintain the efficacy of treatment.

A commitment of 12 weeks will be required initially and further interventions (if any) will be discussed and agreed with the individual counsellor.

The Referral Process

In order to attend the Seventy4 Evening Programme, clients will need to have an individual assessment with a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist. This will last approximately one hour and also give the client a chance to ask questions about the programme.

If you ring the Seventy4 office, a member of the administration team will take some basic details from you and make an appointment for you to have an assessment for the programme.

Clients will be expected to be able to pay for themselves on a weekly basis. There may be funding available through Social Services Departments (Substance Misuse Teams) in your local borough of residence, but this is likely to be very limited.

If you would like to have an informal discussion about the programme, please telephone the Seventy4 office and ask to speak to the Clinical Manager or Senior Counsellor.
