The Seventy4 Evening Programme is specifically tailored to people who are working or, for whatever reason, cannot attend an addictions therapy programme during the day.
There is very little treatment available upon this basis, so the evening programme has been established to accommodate this gap in service provision in London. The
programme offers a client not only the flexibility in terms of time commitment, but also ensures regular, firm, structured support within the part-time framework.
The Seventy4 Evening Programme runs over 12 weeks, comprising two group sessions per week, on a Monday and Thursday, from 6.30pm - 9.00pm. In addition, clients will receive an individual counselling session on an alternative evening.
The Programme
The Evening Programme is suitable for people suffering from any addictive disorder, including but not limited to drugs, alcohol, food, gambling or sex.
Drawing on our experience of working with addiction for many years, the Evening Programme is based on the understanding that individuals suffering from addiction use chemicals or behaviours to 'self-medicate' emotional pain. This could come from previous experiences or as a result of the difficulties and stress inherent in everyday life.
Addiction is treated at Seventy4 as a condition in its own right that must be addressed. Therefore the evening programme will focus on the 'here and now', maintaining abstinence and preventing relapse.
The programme itself draws on a number of treatment approaches including Mindfulness based Cognitive Behavioural Therapies and a 12-Step philosophy in so far, that as a client you will be encouraged to attend AA or other Fellowship meetings.
The weekly individual counselling session will take place with a qualified and experienced counsellor / psychotherapist who will work with you to explore personal issues in a secure and confidential setting.
The individual counselling session is 50mins in length and will complement the group sessions, providing a space to process individual learning.
What is Expected of the Client?
In order to attend the Seventy4 Evening Programme, clients must be a minimum of 24 hours free from drugs and / or alcohol and have the desire to remain abstinent from all mood-altering substances and addictive behaviours.
You will need to demonstrate a degree of willingness to practice suggested behaviours to make the changes necessary to maintain the effectiveness of treatment.
As part of the programme you will be set home assignments which must be completed. You are also expected to attend all sessions over the 12 weeks.
The Referral Process
In order to attend the Seventy4 Evening Programme, clients will need to have an individual assessment with a qualified counsellor / psychotherapist. This will last one hour and will also give the client a chance to ask questions about the programme.
In addition, clients will have a 50 minute pre-group individual counselling session upon joining, where you will be provided with further detail about group work and any expectations.
If you would like to have an informal discussion about the programme, please telephone the Seventy4 office and ask to speak to our Senior Counsellor.
