The Seventy4 Day Programme incorporates a total abstinence 12-Step model of treatment within a structured, part-time day programme.

The programme operates on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and uses a combination of group therapy, psychoeducational workshops, an individual counselling session, as well as optional extras such as acupuncture.

The programme was developed to accommodate individuals who, for various reasons, such as work or childcare commitments, cannot contemplate either residential treatment or a full-time community based programme.

The programme is also an ideal choice for clients who have found low threshold treatment, such as drop-in or controlled using approaches, unsuitable for their needs. In addition, clients who have suffered relapse following some previous experience of recovery, tend to benefit greatly from the programme.

Seventy4's Day Programme is unique in London, not only because of its flexibility in time commitment, but also because it provides regular, firm-boundaried support within a part-time structure. This allows an individual to continue, or begin to deal with, life's day-to-day responsibilities and difficulties whilst still in treatment.

The Programme
Clients of the Seventy4 Day Programme attend over approximately twelve weeks, during which time they will access thirty six mornings of group sessions, plus twelve one-to-one counselling sessions.

The group work aspect of the programme runs for three mornings per week. This provides group therapy, structured workshops, educational sessions and assignment groups. In addition, clients will have a one-to-one counselling session with a nominated qualified counsellor/psychotherapist.

Clients will complete a number of written 'homework' assignments during the twelve weeks, examining the contributory and consequential aspects of their history of drug/alcohol use.

In addition to the structured programme, clients are also given the opportunity to attend a weekly acupuncture session and a twice-weekly support service (Mondays and Fridays), where they are able to access support from staff, use computers, eat a healthy food option and be with clients from other Seventy4 services.

What is Expected of the Client?
In order to attend the Seventy4 Day Programme, clients must be a minimum of 24 hours free of drugs and/or alcohol.

Seventy4 is able to support the resolve of clients by providing random and/or regular drug/alcohol testing. Testing supports the ethos of a drug-free environment, allowing the group to feel safe whilst dealing with the complex, difficult and often painful issues that frequently surface when drinking/drugtaking ceases.

It is an expectation of the programme that clients show open-mindedness and a willingness to avail themselves of the free and widespread support available within the Twelve-Step Fellowships and, whilst on the programme, demonstrate this by attending at least three Twelve-Step meetings per week.

The Referral Process
Referrals will be taken from both professional sources and individuals.

For anyone who wishes to join the service, the first stage is to ring the Seventy4 office and make an appointment for a thorough assessment. This will take approximately 50 minutes with a qualified addictions counsellor.

The Seventy4 Day Programme is a rolling programme to enable clients to be able to join at any stage throughout the week.

If you would like to have an informal discussion about the Seventy4 Day Programme, please telephone the office and speak to either the Clinical Manager or Senior Counsellor.
